I'm so grateful that one of my friends took the time and made the effort to leave a review of Gentle Currents on Amazon! Imagine if some of the folks who enjoyed the book launch party did it too...then more people would find it which would be awesome!
Here is the review!

Gentle Currents invites you into Julie Potiker’s world of mindful awareness, where each poem creates a quiet space to breathe, reflect, and simply be. Her rhythmic, soothing words flow seamlessly alongside Edward Kane’s luminous watercolors, making the experience both meditative and visually enchanting. This is more than a collection of poems—it’s a small refuge, a thoughtful gift for anyone who could use a moment of calm, healing, and reconnection with nature.

If My Mom Called Me Now
If my mom called me now, I’d ask so many questions. What’s it like out there? Are you happy? With Dad again, or alone and afraid? I know how much you hated being alone.
If my mom called me now, I’d tell her how much I admired her—her brilliance, creativity, work ethic, the way she broke glass ceilings and guided thousands of women through the silence of menopause. I’d thank her for caring, for loving my girls so fiercely.
I’d tell her I’m a grandma, that poetry found me in my sixties, a strange silver lining of the pandemic. I’d remind her how we once read poems together, how she helped me find meaning in the lines.
If my mom called me now, I’d tell her she visits my dreams, though I can’t hold the images when I wake. I’d ask her to stay longer.
I’d say: I love you. I miss you. I forgive you. Please forgive me.
And I’d ask whether she changed her mind that day, on February 29, 2016, and ask whether I rushed her out too soon, thinking I was honoring her wishes.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there, and to all the folks remembering their mom.

Vignettes in the inimitable Amy style, this book will have you chuckling, and also saying, oh, oh, sweetheart…yes. It’s readable in one short sitting, with cool art, slogans & retro little doohickies on the thick glossy pages. It reminds me of a confection, like you could bring it as a hostess gift instead of dessert.

Gorgeous new book from Amy Ferris! I love the mid-century modern inspired celestial illustrations! The page edges are turquoise & there’s a thick gold grosgrain ribbon to mark your page. The photos inside are indescribably awesome. Can’t wait to read it, stay tuned!
