Carol competed in a Miss Fil-Am pageant last night! She had a blast and had fun celebrating the beautiful Filipino American culture through pageantry!

Carol is in this show at The San Diego Repertory and A bit of Fresas's story is shared in it as well! Come check it out and support Filipino-American storytelling!

Fresas Flores Balistreri, Sky King Magic and Carol Cabrera will be tabling at this Saturday's event with Kaibigan Pilipino from 6-8pm! We will have some copies of our book, some storytelling cards for you to share YOUR story, and some magic tricks inspired by Filipino folk tales! Come out! Info below:

Magkasama
Magkasama is our main fall quarter event, and is a traditional event under ASUCSD. Meaning “Coming Together”, its original purpose was for Pilipin@-American students and allies from all over California to come together to learn and share their experiences in Pilipin@ and Pilipin@-American history, culture and the arts. Magkasama started in the 1998-1999 academic school year, and was originally entitled Pilipino History and Arts Celebration (PHAC). The program encompassed an exhibition of contemporary Pilipin@-American art, stage performers, vendors, and workshops on political and social issues in the Filipin@-American community. In 2009, Magkasama was transformed into a benefit showcase, in which we invite different up-and-coming artists to come together and showcase their talent in celebration of Asian-American history and art. The proceeds of the showcase will go to a community organization that best fits the mission of Kaibigang Pilipin@.

Hey Invisible Storybook! We've taken a little bit of a break as I transition from living in NY to life teaching in CA again! However, we have a lot of awesome stuff coming up--it's all cooking. Keep a look out for our next few events--they're coming up soon!

Christina Newhard, a friend of Invisible Storybook has been working for years to launch Sari-Sari Storybooks, a Filipino indie publishing venture.

Sari-SariStorybooks support Filipino culture and language revitalization. We do this with beautiful, multilingual picture books that capture the quirky magic of Filipino storytelling.

We've just launched a Kickstarter campaign to fundraise printing costs for "Kalipay and the Tiniest Tiktik," and "Amina and the City of Flowers."
