There’s something refreshing about shifting gears after months of chasing a specific goal. The next few weeks will be a little recovery, a little rebuilding, and a whole lot of intention behind what’s next.

What are you training for right now? Let me know in the comments below!

A little fitness, little life, and some opinions. Rock wins. I don’t make the rules 🤷🏻‍♀️

“Be in better shape each year I get older.”

…was a sentence I wrote during a goal setting activity in August 2024.

I didn’t even know exactly what I meant by it at the time.

It’s not specific.
It’s not measurable.
It’s not even a particularly well-written goal.
But it felt like something I had to write down.

The more I thought about it, “better shape” stopped meaning looking a certain way. It started to be defined by what I’m capable of.

Can I run faster?
Can I get stronger?
Can I learn a new skill?
Can I recover from setbacks?

Getting older is inevitable.

And I’m not going to spend those years slowly removing things from the list of what I believe I’m capable of.

I’m going to add to it.

I want 33-year-old me to be capable of things 32-year-old me couldn’t do. In 10 years, I want 43-year-old me to look back and think: You had no idea what we were capable of yet.

So, maybe “be in better shape each year I get older” still isn’t a very specific goal. But I know exactly what I mean by it now.

Keep building a body that allows me the freedom to live a bigger life.

Tomorrow, I turn 33. Time to set a new baseline.

Let’s. Freaking. Go. 👊🏻

Before you jump into dinner, errands or your next responsibility, take two minutes to close the loop.

☑️ A quick review of the schedule for tomorrow
☑️ A win from the day
☑️ A priority for tomorrow

The goal is to not carry today’s mental tabs into the rest of your night.

Time away isn’t a mistake that needs correcting.

You don’t need to earn your way back from whatever interrupted your regular routine.

You don’t need a reset. You just need to return.

You don’t have to wait until you’ve arrived to start showing up as the person you’re becoming.

These photos (and so many more) feel like a snapshot of that to me, like choosing the next version before every piece of the plan is perfectly in place.

Thank you Ella Krause for capturing these moments so damn well.

We’re just getting started 👊🏻

Most people think they need a new meal plan, an extreme fast, or complete overhaul.

Before you change everything, ask yourself these five questions. You may be surprised how much progress comes from dialing in on the fundamentals first.

1. Do you skip meals?
2. Do you eat protein at breakfast?
3. Do you go longer than 5 hours without eating?
4. Do you eat fruit and veggies daily?
5. Are you drinking at least 0.75x your bodyweight in oz of water daily?

Save this for your next nutrition reset.

Forget the perfect morning routine.

Just answer the question: How do you want to enter your day?

Choose a single action that reinforces that answer and, as a result, the person you’re becoming.

Because the habit isn’t the goal. The identity is.
