Here's how it works: Volunteers are assigned to homes with ripe fruit trees. They never get up on ladders or climb. They also clean up after they harvest.

LCF Community Harvest is community-wide, year-round program that connects local volunteers with fruit tree owners to redirect our community's home grown produce to nearby families in need of assistance. Harvested over 450 lbs. of fresh lemons and grapefruit with Erika and Carol Weiler today! Erika is up to almost 2,000 lbs this season - WOW! Thank you to our generous homeowners in La Canada with such amazing fruit trees.
It is so exciting to have Erika Weiler working on LCF Community Harvest for her Girl Scout Gold Award! She's taken over the scheduling and harvesting for this season and is doing an incredible job! 1,000 lbs. harvested and donated so far this Spring and she's gonna keep going. 4,604 pounds. That's our total so far...since we first began picking La Canada fruit for the Foothill Unity Center in April last year.

Monica's February Fruit Challenge: I will match every 10 lbs. of fruit picked in February with $1 worth of girl scout cookies for the Foothill Unity Center. So, 1,000 lbs picked in February means I'll buy $100 in girl scout cookies for the food pantry! Yumm. What flavors should I get?
Thank you to the CVHS Key Club for last Sunday's pick resulting in 340 lbs of citrus fruit from 3 generous La Canada homeowners!!

Big thank you to the five young men in Boy Scout Troop #395, who harvested 300 lbs of fruit today!! Thanks to the generosity of four La Canada homeowners and these volunteers, 60 needy families will enjoy an extra 5 lb. bag of fresh produce from the food pantry this week.
