Another game! This time on Thursday night! Headed over to Glendale Community College for a road game against a well-coached & talented Village Christian team that’s also 2-0! Gotta get to work!

Spartans hang on to win 28-20 against a really resilient SanMoHi team that never quit. Really sloppy 4th quarter with lots of room to grow! But, nice to escape with a win. Spartans now 2-0 on the young season. On to Village Christian next week.

The La Cañada football team opened its season with a 31-22 win at home after defeating Fillmore in nonleague play Friday, Aug. 21.

La Cañada is joining the big time for this football season as the Spartans have been placed in the top level of the three leagues in the newly formed Rio-Pacific Conference as a member of the Arroyo League.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for new rivalries and I want to be in the A-tier.” coach Dave Avramovich said. “You want to play the good teams. It’s more fun. It’s better for everybody and it’s good for kids. Let’s continue to challenge ourselves.”

A new era begins for La Cañada football as the Spartans embark in a completely different league makeup. Meanwhile, new head coaches take over the St. Francis football team and the Flintridge Prep 8-man football team this fall.
