Hi, I’m Xiyue ("She-way"), the creator of Japanese Kaiwa — a language enthusiast, interpreter, teacher, and mom with a deep love for communication, cultures and connection. My journey with Japanese began in college, where I majored in Japanese Language in China and soon found
myself studying International Economics as an exchange student in Japan. That experience not only deepened my fluency, but also sparked a lifelong passion for the culture, people, and nuance behind the Japanese language. Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked as a professional interpreter in Japanese, English, Mandarin, and Hakka across industries like legal, medical, tech, government, banking and more. I’ve also taught Japanese, English & Chinese languages one-on-one, in small groups, and even for corporate and government clients for over 10 years. And through it all, I discovered something: to learn a new language, you don’t need more textbooks. You need someone who can make the language come alive and make it stick. I created this course because I know what it’s like to learn Japanese from scratch — and I’ve spent years refining the most effective and enjoyable ways to speak it naturally. I’ve organized everything in a way that gets straight to what matters, skipping the boring grammar drills and focusing on real-world, practical language you’ll actually use. I was raised in a small farming village in China, where my family couldn’t afford anything beyond basic tuition.
