LITE BRITE: There are so many benefits to this simple activity…. 1. Making geometric shapes, letters or numbers. 2. Developing eye hand coordination 3. Strengthening pincer grasp 4. Color recognition and identification 5. Develops visual motor planning and Creativity. But for now, we’re just strengthening grasp as we introduce this tool. We’ll see where the mind takes us as this kiddo gets more involved and familiar with this activity.

MORE AND LESS: We did an activity where the kiddos evaluated dominoes and sorted them according to which side had more dots than the other. They had to count the dots or subitize. Either way, they organized each one after comparing the dots. When they came across one that had the same number of dots on each side, they said “this one has the same dots! Where do we put it?” Well, that means that it is EQUAL. So, we began a pile of all the dominoes that were equal on both sides. They had a good understanding of more and less, but the bonus was the word for EQUAL.

BEARS EVERYWHERE: We enjoyed reading lots of books about bears. We counted bears, played Bear Bingo, sequenced our most read story, and focused on other Letter Bb words all while reviewing colors, numbers, and the letter Bb sound.

WHERE ARE YOU GREY MOUSE, GREY MOUSE? ARE YOU HIDING UNDER THE ____________ HOUSE? This one is always a favorite. The kids love the chant and guessing under what color house grey mouse is. In this activity, children are reviewing colors, but if they are beyond color recognition, we can incorporate other goals, such as number/letter/shape identification, subitizing dots, etc. This activity never gets old. This is easy to recreate at home. Videos included in the comments.

FOOD and NUTRITION: Whether it’s serving salad or flipping alphabet pancakes, it’s nice to have an opportunity to talk about making healthy choices while incorporating some fun and interactive academic activities that support the topic.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Understand fathers, it will take many years before the children see the glory in your words, actions, and deeds. Mother's get all the glory for their daily love, attentiveness, and affection. Your day will come, and when your young adult or adult child still seeks you for guidance you will know that all those years, they were watching you, listening to you, and learning from you. You are their father and what you do matters. Be blessed and celebrated on this day. May God always guide your ways so that you will be the best father possible. ✝️💟

SIMPLE SENSORY: We’ve used so many items in our sensory bin, but you can never go wrong with just regular pinto beans. I just love hearing the conversation these kids are having about how many times the yellow cup of beans took to fill up the red container. I love the words being used. Not only are they using color words, and measurement words in terms of quantity, comparison, and time. They're talking about it to each other, taking turns talking and filling, all while enjoying themselves. So simple.

NUMBER SEQUENCE: This activity is a favorite of mine. They quickly get the idea that they are looking at a small sequence of numbers and are expected to plug in the missing number. By being able to understand, identify, and complete number patterns and sequences, they are developing their critical thinking skills. This child is only 3 years old, but completed the set on her own. 👍

MEMORIAL DAY: Please take a moment this day to Remember the ultimate sacrifices that were made by our fallen heroes who died in service to our country so that we may have the freedoms that we have. Life is what we make of it. They made their choice to serve and we should honor that by being good citizens, contributing to our society, and most importantly respecting our military families whom have already lost their loved one.
