Working with C.A.S.A of Howard County to provide shoeboxes filled with stuffed animals, crayons, coloring books, and hygiene items to children in need.
In 2011, as a third grader at Northwestern Elementary School we learned about doing good deeds and serving others. My family and I have been truly blessed and when I started to make my Christmas list that year I realized how much I took this blessing for granted. So, two weeks before Christmas, God put it on my heart to start a service project that would benefit children here in Kokomo, Indiana. T
hat is how the “Christmas in a Shoebox” service project began. In our first year, with the help of many wonderful volunteers and their thoughtful donations we were able to fill, wrap, and deliver shoeboxes to 15 children and teenagers here in Kokomo on Christmas Eve. Now, after ten years of collections, this project has been able to help over 1000 children and teenagers. This was not only a blessing for everyone who received a shoebox, but also for those who helped make the shoeboxes possible. This year, we are again working with C.A.S.A of Howard County to provide shoeboxes to children and teenagers currently in their system. Our goal is to provide shoeboxes filled with stuffed animals, crayons, coloring books, hygiene items, and other necessities to children and teenagers in need. If you would be interested in donating empty shoeboxes, items to fill the shoeboxes, or even filled shoeboxes, your help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at my email address ([email protected]) if you are able to help. I have a list of items to go in the shoeboxes, along with ages and whether the box would be for a boy or a girl. Thank you so much and remember the reason for the season…JESUS!
