Me: “So Claude, give an unhinged introduction to Close to the Heart”

Claude:
“Listen. Your baby spent nine months inside a human body. Nine months of constant motion, constant heartbeat, constant warmth. And then we hand them a flat, stationary surface and act surprised when they scream.

Thousands of years of human evolution didn’t produce a baby who wants to lie quietly in a bassinet. It produced a baby who expects to be carried — pressed against a chest, rocked by a stride, regulated by someone else’s nervous system while their own is still figuring itself out.
I’m Maisie. I’m a certified babywearing educator, a recovering data scientist, and frankly your most enthusiastic advocate for treating babywearing like the postpartum care tool it actually is — not a lifestyle accessory, not an Instagram aesthetic, not a registry checkbox. A tool. With research behind it. That I will absolutely cite.

Close to the Heart exists because parents deserve more than a YouTube video and a carrier with seventeen buckles. You deserve someone who will look at your body, your baby, and your actual life — and help you find the carry that works for you.
Knoxville, I’m here. And I brought the science.”

Not bad 👌😆

Baby carriers are a real investment. The Ergo Omni is $180. The Baby Bjorn is $250. And most people pick one based on online reviews or whatever their friend used.

Why not try on popular ones and get a professional personalized recommendation before buying one?

This Friday I’ll be at with a number of popular choices— come try them on your body, with your baby, before you spend that kind of money.

To the mama I met today at Duck Duck Goose — and to every mama carrying the same worries…

I’m thinking about your story— your little one who arrived six weeks early, your healing C-section scar, and how you were searching for a carrier that felt right for both of you.

I wish we’d had more time for me to give more recommendations and suggestions. I wish I told you that I have office hours so you can come, try on carriers at your own pace, borrow some to take home, and walk away truly supported. And that you could also DM me if had further questions

If this reaches you (or any mama who needs it), please know my inbox is open

My next office hours is on Monday, April 21 at - I’d love to help!

You know you need a baby carrier.
But which one? And how do you even use it?

Wraps, slings, buckle carriers, structured carriers—why are there SO many options? And how are you supposed to choose when you’ve never used one before?

Here’s a better plan: learn before you buy.

Intro to Babywearing | March 13th

Get hands-on practice with different carrier styles. Learn what actually works for YOUR body. Figure out what to register for (and what to skip).

Practice with demo dolls so when baby arrives, you’re ready from day one.

Postpartum recovery isn’t just about your baby.
It’s about your core, your pelvic floor, your back, your nervous system.

We’re teaming up to talk about healing + holding — because babywearing should support your body, not strain it.

If you’re newly postpartum (or love someone who is), this workshop is for you.

Tag a mama who deserves real support 🤍

❌ MYTH: “As long as my newborn meets the minimum weight requirement, the carrier will work fine”

✅FACT: Not all carriers support newborns safely—or support YOUR healing body.

Here’s what most people don’t know:
Some carrier styles distribute weight in ways that create downward pressure on your recovering pelvic floor and core. Others don’t safely fit and support a newborn’s spine and development.
Just because it says “newborn” on the label doesn’t mean it’s right for YOUR baby or YOUR postpartum body.

In Core to Cuddle, we break down exactly which carriers work for different recovery scenarios—diastasis recti, pelvic floor dysfunction, C-section healing, and more.

You’ll get to:
✨ Try multiple carrier styles hands-on

✨ Learn which ones fit baby AND your healing body

✨ Receive 1:1 guidance from both a certified babywearing educator and pelvic floor specialist

✨ Make informed decisions before you buy (or finally use the one collecting dust)
