Our State Champions, Mason Daugherty and Paighton Liles, competed at the National Leadership and Skills Conference for SkillsUSA this week in Atlanta! They put in a lot of time practicing and preparing for their events and came out in the top half of the nation. We are still proud to say that Mason finished 17th in the NATION for Diesel Technology and Paighton finished 22nd in the NATION for Power Equipment Technology. We are proud of both of these students and can’t wait to see where their skills take them in the future!!

What does leadership mean to you?
To me, leadership is a person who can help push people to become the best at what they do, as well as someone who can have a group of people focused on a specific purpose. I believe a leader should be able to keep a group of people moving forward and on task while being able to complete jobs and tasks.

What is one goal that you have for your club this year?
One goal I have for our club is to have someone win at the district competition, and I want to raise enough money to purchase the official DECA blazers.

What do you hope to gain from being a leader?
I hope to learn how to keep others on task and find ways to help my group of people become successful. I also want to be able to grow the club and set it up to be able to keep growing after I graduate.

It’s time to announce our Career and Technical Student Organizations leadership for next school year!

First up is our new HOSA president, Roxana Aguilar.

What does leadership mean to you?
Although leadership can be shown through various forms of service in all aspects of life, to me, leadership means being consistent, leading through example, being a source of support, and taking the initiative. I aim to balance being an active and passive leader as I implement both creating goals and encouraging problem solving, but I also believe that it is just as important to have team autonomy.

What is one goal that you have for your club this year?
One goal that I have for HOSA this year is to further increase the number of chapter members that we have and keep these numbers consistent. We have already accomplished this goal this past year, and I hope to beat that number once again.

What do you hope to gain from being a leader?
I hope to gain the ability to advocate for others while fostering ACCTC's school culture of encouraging self-discovery and career readiness. Furthermore, I aim to follow a stewardship leadership style to develop my abilities in communication and guidance.
