BE AWARE: The KPD recently received another report of a scam call where an unknown suspect claimed to be a Knoxville Police Department officer and successfully swindled money and financial information from unsuspecting victims. The scammer claimed to need financial information and/or money to assist in the resolution of a pending criminal case.
REMEMBER: The KPD or any other legitimate law enforcement agency will not call to demand or request money for any reason. If you receive a call of this nature and suspect it is fraudulent, hang up and call your local law enforcement agency. Always report scam calls to law enforcement. Finally, never give out financial or personal information to unverified sources.

Holding boundaries can feel mean or rude in the beginning. But it's not mean or rude to love yourself enough to protect yourself.

Sheriff Tom Spangler is warning citizens of a phone “scam” where an individual is claiming to be Knox County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy. This individual is telling the person there is a warrant for their arrest - they’ve missed a court date - they must meet in person to have papers served, and in some cases asking for money.
THE KNOX COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE WARRANTS UNIT WILL SERVE YOU IN PERSON
* They WILL NOT ask you to MEET -
* They WILL NOT ask you for MONEY -
If there’s an actual warrant for your arrest, we won’t provide a courtesy call.
Sheriff Spangler asks the public to report anything suspicious. You can call 865-215-2444 to report any suspicious activity. Additionally, NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OR BANKING INFORMATION ON THE PHONE. And, NEVER agree to meet an individual you do not personally know.

SCAM ALERT: We’ve received several calls this morning from people who received calls from someone identifying themself as an officer with the TBI, following-up on an alleged complaint and asking for personal information. The calls are spoofing TBI’s phone number.
TBI officers are not – and would not – make such phone calls. Anyone receiving this kind of phone call should ignore the call and, if you’d like, report any information to 1-800-TBI-FIND or [email protected].

Henry Cloud is an expert in healthy boundaries. His page is definitely worth following. This is an excellent post about healthy dating.
Remember, one aspect of safe dating is to remain connected
to your friends and support system. They can help make sure that you are not vulnerable to what you cannot see. Some get kidnapped by controlling or dependent people. But others get kidnapped by their own wishes just to be close to someone. They give up all the things that are important because of their own lack of boundaries. Still, others do not have enough of a community to get kidnapped away from. They are in a vacuum. Don't let any of these happen to you.
