Have you ever wondered what's up down there after having a baby? It feels like we spend so much time learning about what happens during pregnancy & delivery, but no time understanding what comes after the delivery. So many new moms end up with pain, leakage, or prolapse and have no idea that this was a possibility after giving birth. But regardless of your experience, there is help for all of these issues!

My friend Emily Pace is a pelvic floor physical therapist and she has created a FREE 5 day workshop for this exact reason. Whether you're pregnant right now, just gave birth, or gave birth a while ago this 5 day workshop can help you better understand what's up down there!
Starts June 7th!

Honestly, I didn’t know if this worked... but 😳😳😳

Laundry stripping! Work out clothes!
Great for towels, too!

1/4 c Borax
1/4 c washing soda
1 heaping scoop of powder laundry detergent.

Pour HOT water in bath tub. Put in ingredients. Put your clothes in. Move around every 30 minutes. Leave clothes until water is cool (4-5 hours)! Then wash in washer with cool water!

You are welcome! 🤢

This ornament couldn’t be more appropriate considering I am COVID positive and the rest of my family is waiting on results. 2020 has been quite the year. Even though it’s not Thanksgiving, the tree is up, the ornaments are out, and the quarantine has begun.

We all know maintaining a physical 6 foot distance, wearing a mask, and washing hands frequently and thoroughly are ways to help protect yourself against COVID. There is also some limited data that shows some common supplements and OTC medications can actually help with the severity of COVID. This was an article I found in US Pharmacists , July 2020. Our office has actually been taking these supplements for prophylaxis.

💊 Vitamin C 500mg twice a day
💊Quercetin 250mg-500mg twice a day
💊Zinc 75mg daily
💊Melatonin at bedtime
💊 Vitamin D3 1000-4000IU daily

The article recommends if you have COVID with mild symptoms to continue taking above and add a few more:

💊Famotidine (Pepcid) daily
💊Baby Aspirin daily
💊Ivermectin (prescription only)

Have any of you been taking supplements for prevention? Or supplements if you are positive? Prayers you all stay safe and healthy during this holiday season 💗
Also, shout out to Gabby at the Knox County health department! What an incredibly busy and difficult job you have during this time 💗 Keep that positive and personable attitude!

September is su***de awareness month and unfortunately with COVID, we have noticed an increase in su***de.

This article from the CDC morbidity and mortality weekly report discusses mental health, substance use, and suicidal ideations during the pandemic.

The data comes from web-based surveys June 24-30th. A total of 5,412 adults completed the survey.

Out of the participants, 40.9% reported an adverse mental or behavioral health condition; anxiety, depression, substance abuse to cope, thoughts of su***de.

10.7% of individuals reported having considered su***de in the preceding 30 days. This is twice as many adults than the previous 12 months.

Did you know that for every death by su***de, there are over 25 su***de attempts?

Did you know su***de is the 2nd leading cause of death in people aged 10-34.

Did you know you can help? If you know someone depressed or anxious, don’t be afraid you ask them if the think about dying or killing themselves. Many people who complete su***de have a plan. Just asking will not put the idea into their head. If they do, don’t judge. Stay with them and call the national su***de prevention hotline! It’s open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 1-800-273-8255. You can also call 911.

Thank you Association of Physician Assistants in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the award of Outstanding PA in women’s health, 2020.

I am so thankful to have a job doing something I love. People always ask me why I want to practice in women’s health. When they think of gynecology, they think of Pap smears. While that is certainly part of my job, there is so much more. The relationships formed with patients is unlike any other field of medicine. I see patients of all ages and am with them in all stages of their lives. To think that I can make a difference in someone’s life is certainly humbling.

I am thankful to Dr Susan Webb and Tennessee Gyn for truly caring about people and having a wonderful environment to work in. I am thankful to my patients for trusting me with their healthcare. I am thankful to South College for allowing me to educate didactic and clinical year PA students . I am thankful for the numerous organizations whom have invited me to speak to young females about their health. I am thankful for Britt, the visionary of Britt and Steph at your Cervix podcast.

We need more PAs in women’s health and Women’s health needs more of us 💗
