In our Schoolwide Safety Meeting today, we discussed the following procedures for car riders and were asked to relay the procedures to you: Our SRO (Officer Hughes) has stated that it is against the law to be on any cellular device behind the wheel--Hands-Free Tennessee--this includes our car rider drop off and pick-up line. He said he would be issuing citations.
Make sure you have the updated ORANGE car rider tags for this school year. If you don't have the new tag by August 15, you will be required to go to the office and get one. Also, you must keep the tag on your rearview mirror throughout the entire pickup line until you leave the parking lot. This helps the loading process even after their name is called. Officer Hughes also stressed the importance of proper car seat/booster seat usage and laws. Safety first!
