Did you see this!?
Boom, a commercial aviation company based in the Denver, CO area, has flown their demonstrator, dubbed the XB-1 or “Baby Boom” for the first time!
Boom is seeking to bring back supersonic airline travel, something we have not seen since the Concorde was retired in 2003. While their demonstrator is not their finished product, it does show the world that they are a company capable of building a team, an aircraft, and the infrastructure to go all the way. This first flight is a crucial first step toward their goal of supersonic flight.
Congratulations to the entire Boom team!
JOLO Aero Services
JOLO Aero was started to spread the joy of flying to a broad audience.
Whether it’s taking your first flight in an aircraft or taking delivery of your new bird, JOLO Aero represents a professional brand that provides a full spectrum of aviation services.
Did you all see the anniversary that was celebrated this week? The Bell Boeing V-22 made its first flight 35 years ago!
This aircraft is a game-changer for our military’s vertical lift needs. It’s even more spectacular that the V-22 is the only production tiltrotor ever made (so far)! Soon, we hope that the Leonardo AW609 (which started its life as another Bell Boeing venture) will join the team with FAA certification. In addition, the Bell V-280 will join that rarified air once it enters the Army’s fleet in 2030.
For now, though, the Marine Corps’ MV-22, the Air Force’s CV-22, the Navy’s CMV-22, and the Japanese GSDF’s MV-22 stand alone as the world’s only production tiltrotor.

Did you see this in the news this week? The Pipistrel Velis Electro is now effectively approved as a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA), clearing the way for more widespread use in the United States.
The Velis Electro had met all of the requirements for approval as an LSA except for the requirement that an LSA have a reciprocating engine. The exemption that is linked in the article allows for a subset of production aircraft to be classified, marked, maintained, and flown as LSA. Although a Velis Electro could be flown in the US prior to this exemption, they would have to be granted some other Special Airworthiness Certificate, such as for Experimental - Exhibition, which carries limitations making it impractical for commercial use. Not only that, they could not be flown by Sport Pilots as they did not meet the definition of an LSA.
Although we are a little way away from seeing routine operations with electric aircraft, each step like this one matures the art of aviation in one form or another. We at JOLO Aero applaud Textron eAviation for the effort put into this exemption and hope that they continue to innovate in ways that improves general aviation for us all.
FAA Gives Exemption To Allow Flight Training In Velis Electro - AVweb The FAA has allowed an exemption to light sport rules for the Textron/Pipistrel Velis Electro. The agency has permitted an exemption to 14 CFR Part 21.190, the special airworthiness certificate for light sport category aircraft, and that will pave the way to use it for flight training. The aircraft,...

JOLO Aero congratulates the entire Bell 525 team on the huge accomplishment of finding a new platform’s “first dollar”.
Did you know that our Owner, (Chief?) Pilot, and let’s be honest, our only employee, used to work at the storied helicopter OEM, Bell Textron Inc.? Almost his entire career was in flight testing this marvelous bird, eventually leading the test effort on the 5th prototype, N525TY (pictured). He can (barely) be seen in the photo attached to this press release haunting the pilot’s right shoulder. For the fixed-wing among us, the pilot typically sits at the right-hand crew station in helicopters.

Welcome to the launch of JOLO Aero’s page! Though we have been around a while (since 2021, can you believe it!?), our social media presence has been lacking. It’s high time we fixed that.
