The NEAP Team has concluded the vegetation assessment and soil classification for the North Carolina Pilot Study of Wetland Reserve Program easements. We look forward to crunching the numbers. Thanks to our feild assistants for their dedication to our project!

On 19 August 2011, Dr. Matthew Gray was invited to speak at a meeting of the Steering Committee of the NRCS Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) in Beltsville, MD. Dr. Gray presented an overview of NEAP, outlined strategies for development of bioassessment and economic valuation models, and discussed possible collaborative studies between CEAP and NEAP during Phase II of NEAP.

NEAP Team members captured a mud snake, which is rarely seen in the wild because it spends most of its time underground during daylight, on a Wetland Reserve Program Easement that serves as a floodplain protection area for the Roanake River in eastern North Carolina.
