Did you know that in 1502, enslaved Africans were brought to Hispaniola (now Haiti and the Dominican Republic), marking one of the earliest recorded arrivals of Africans in the Caribbean?🤔

Centuries later, in 1804, Haiti became the first independent Black republic in the world after a successful revolution and the second country in the Western Hemisphere to gain independence, after the United States (1776).🎉

The Caribbean story is one of forced migration, survival, resilience, and global movement. Today, Caribbean communities continue shaping history across borders — through culture, work, education, and immigration journeys.💯

Black history is migration history.
Caribbean history is world history.

📚✨ My West Indian Adventure is on its way to Virgin Islands youth! ✨📚

With the help of the Virgin Islands Department of Education, we’re working toward placing 250 books in the hands of VI Youth before Christmas, with a sponsorship deadline of October 31st. 🌴

We’re inviting businesses, individuals, and West Indians at home and abroad to join as sponsors in this mission of literacy, culture, and heritage pride.

🌟 Sponsors will be recognized in the current book, our next release, across promotions, and on our website; Plus receive a free signed copy of MWIA. (Benefits vary by tier)
