We are aware that there is a social media post circulating claiming schools are closed tomorrow. That is false as all schools will be open for a normal school day tomorrow. Law enforcement has been notified and is investigating the false post. Parents, students, employees, and community members need only to refer to the district’s official social media pages on Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube or the school district’s website at osceolaschools.net for official information and updates instead of disruptive false posts on other sites. We look forward to another great day of learning tomorrow in our schools.

We’re two weeks into school and may be eager to know how and what our students feel and think about the new school year. Here are some ideas of questions to ask about their school experience so far.

Our schools will be implementing new cell phone procedures for the 2023-2024 school year to comply with Florida House Bill 379.

The bill states that “a student may not use a wireless communications device during instructional time, except when expressly directed by a teacher solely for educational purposes. A teacher shall designate an area for wireless communications devices during instructional time.”

We know it will take some time for everyone to adjust to these new policies, but it will help ensure the focus remains on student learning and achievement. You can read about the new policies here: https://bit.ly/SDOCcellphonepolicy.

Prepare for Back to School by attending Open House!

Here's when you and your child can visit your school:

Monday, August 7 - All high schools, including Osceola County School for the Arts Grades 6-12, will host Open House from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, August 8 - All middle schools and K-8 schools will host Open House from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 9 - All elementary schools will host Open House from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

We invite you to our Meet and Treat with Dr. Shanoff!

As part of his 100-day plan, Dr. Shanoff will be visiting our high schools at the listed dates for cookies and conversation. The schools will host district employees from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by our parents, students, and community members from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
