Meramec Community College: We are a bunch of weirdos, we make pottery, sculptures, and we all like clay. We also do smoke-firings and we have raku kilns.

There are several ceramic courses that can be taken at Meramec Community College; we have an outdoor soda kiln, two large reduction kilns, and 4 other kilns varying in size. The ceramics class has an open, accepting, and work-driven atmosphere which promotes creativity and individuality. Have you ever wanted to learn how to make plates or bowls? Have you ever wanted to make teapots or sculptures t

Just spying on Vincent :) Working on his jaw dropping skeleton sculpture. Vince enjoys using paper and other different materials with his clay. He pushes the boundaries of what clay is capable of. He is an amazing assets to our studio and students. Just next time he should measure his piece to make sure it fit our kilns! No worries tho we have a soda kiln who will be more then happy to bisque it for him

This past weekend we delivered the handcrafted cups to the William A Kerr foundation on O'fallon street in downtown St. Louis.

The William A. Kerr Foundation is dedicated to finding and helping groups committed to projects designed to improve education, enrich the environment, and promote health and accessibility, chiefly in the geographical regions of St. Louis, Missouri and Walnut Creek, California.

In August of 2004, the William A. Kerr Foundation purchased a small, rundown building at 21 O’Fallon St. in St. Louis, Missouri. It is about a mile north of the Gateway Arch, a block from the Mississippi River and in a largely abandoned industrial area. Three years later, after almost two million dollars in renovation, the building received LEED-Platinum Certification by the US Green Building Council. It scored 5 out of 5 points for its Innovation and Design Process and 58 out of a total possible 69 points to earn its Platinum LEED Certification. (See LEED Scorecard) Below is a summary of some interesting facts about the building and the process of transforming it into its current use as an office for the foundation, an educational demonstration for sustainable building practices, and an event space available for use by non-profit organizations.

Stop by the Ceramic Studio to see Andrea Rogers's work in our display case. Its breathtaking the details she is able to put into her pieces. I enjoy how she finds the beauty in run down and rusted old mechanical parts. Stunning work, come check it out.
