Growing Galesburg

Growing Galesburg Our Culture is Agriculture

Growing Galesburg is a new initiative started by but not limited to Knox College students that seeks to facilitate the development of community by unleashing the potential of producers and consumers in food systems that empower and include all residents of Galesburg, Illinois. From the farmers, local businesses and restaurants to the local schools and city officials to community members and eaters

(so, all of us!), GG embraces all in the creation of a healthy and thriving food system for the present and future. Growing Galesburg aims to inspire residents and to create a Galesburg where people are proud to say “Our Culture is Agriculture.”

Beautiful (and windy) day at the Market today! Vendors are out with a myriad of veggies, baked goods, t-shirts, flowers, BBQ sauce, and much more. Personally, I bought some lovely Italian bread from Cordy's kitchen and some gorgeous asparagus from Mary Lou that I am looking forward to grilling.

Mary Lou and Mark of M&M&m Farms in La Harpe, IL, gave Growing Galesburg a tour of their farm, explaining to us what they do there and why they do it.
