TAMUK students, local and regional artists will ink and print over-sized hand carved woodblocks under the drum of a 2-ton steamroller. The steamroller print event takes the studio practice of printmaking on to a communal stage. This grand public event introduces the audience to relief printmaking, while allowing artists to work on large-scale prints. The steamroller print event generates an environment of community engagement, teamwork and education.
This print event is part of The Ranch Hand Festival, which honors the city’s rich cultural heritage as one of the mainstays of the Texas ranching industry. The festival features the annual Ranch Hand Breakfast at the King Ranch, vendor food, live music, as well as arts and crafts. It is free and open to the public.
