Victim and survivor experiences consistently show that leaving an abusive relationship is often not a single decision, but a process that requires careful planning, resources and support.

By changing the question from "Why didn't they leave?" to "What barriers are they facing?" we can foster greater understanding and create more survivor-centered responses.

Everyone deserves safety, support, and the ability to make decisions that are right for their unique circumstances.

Ever feel like the courtroom is being used as a weapon after a breakup? ๐Ÿ˜”

Legal abuse is a form of post-separation control where an abuser twists the legal system to keep harassing, intimidating, or financially draining a survivor. It can look like nonstop filings, dragging out hearings on purpose, or making false accusationsโ€”anything to exhaust and destabilize the other person.

If this sounds familiar, youโ€™re not alone ๐Ÿ’œ Document patterns, keep records of communications and filings, and consider asking about protective orders. Working with legal professionals who understand domestic abuse dynamics can also make a huge difference.

Whatโ€™s one thing you wish more people understood about how โ€œlegal battlesโ€ can be used to control someone?๐Ÿ‘‡
