Kingston Clean Sweep

Kingston Clean Sweep The Annual Kingston Clean Sweep takes place every spring in the City of Kingston. Individuals are welcome to participate.

The Clean Sweep is looking for volunteers to pick up litter lying along the “Kingston Corridor” from Washington Avenue through the Uptown Business District, down Broadway to the Rondout Waterfront. Every year for each Clean Sweep, approximately 400 volunteers from students to senior citizens picked up nearly four tons of litter. “The Clean Sweep” will not only spruce up the ‘Kingston Corridor,’ bu

t hopefully inspire hundreds of Kingstonians of all ages to do the same in their own neighborhoods,” says Steve Noble, Mayor for the City of Kingston. The event, timed to occur near the 42nd Anniversary of Earth Day, helps to promote environmental stewardship, Noble says. The Kingston Clean Sweep is sponsored by the Friends of Historic Kingston with support from the City of Kingston and numerous other businesses and service organizations. Trash bags and plastic gloves are provided. Anyone who wishes to volunteer can call the Friends of Historic Kingston at (845) 339-0720 or e-mail [email protected].

The 17th Annual Kingston Clean Sweep returns on Saturday, May 2nd, and this year, the Rotary Club of Kingston is proud to lead the charge!

Join us and neighbors from participating organizations from 9 AM to Noon as we polish the Kingston Corridor from Uptown to the Waterfront.

Grab your broom and help us keep our historic city beautiful.

Hello Sweepers,
Get your brooms ready...the 10th Annual Kingston Clean Sweep is TOMORROW morning. 9am- Noon. The event takes place rain or shine!

There will be 3 locations where supplies (bags and plastic gloves) can be picked up starting at 8:30 am. Please go to the location nearest your territory assignment (see attached).

1. Friends of Historic Kingston - Fred Johnson Museum (Wall Street)
2. Kingston Library (Franklin Street)
3. Maritime Museum (Rondout Landing)

REMEMBER to bring your own brooms, rakes and dust pans!

To condense the pick up stops for the DPW, please place filled bags at the end of the block on your sweep territory.

Time to gather your rakes and brooms and star the date on your calendar
The 9th Annual Kingston Clean Sweep: Saturday, May 5th, 9-noon.

Mayor Steve Noble has already pledged the support of the City to collect the filled bags immediately following the event for which we are most grateful.

We sincerely hope your organization will pitch in as you have in past years. The Clean Sweep is a huge success due to committed people like you.
Over the years we have had phenomenal success, during our most successful year 5,000 pounds of trash (2 1/2 tons) and 13.5 cubic yards of yard waste were collected in just three hours!

Please respond to the email below if your organization/group/or you plan to oversee the same “Sweep territory” that you have in the past.

Volunteer information/waivers will be emailed closer to the Sweep date.
