“Trinity Episcopal Church”
9x12
Available for purchase Live Oak Gallery
Trinity Episcopal Church. 9x12, available from in Apalachicola, Florida. Part of the proceeds go to the Trinity Episcopal Church there in Apalach.
I started this one en plein air over a year ago. The sunshine was intermittent the first day and my vision was a dappled light on this church. Fortunately, when I came back the second day at the same time it was sunny. I did not like the tree on the left so I brought it home and removed it and enforced more of a flow through the painting. Sometimes working on it at home is not successful. I feel like the painting has more of my initial vision now.

Plein Air Painters of the Southeast is excited to announce that Little River Canyon National Preserve, Fort Payne, AL will host us for a Plein Air demonstration April 15 at the Little River Canyon National Preserve Boardwalk from 3-5, followed by a reception. The participating artist are craig_reynolds_artist, RichNelson, Beverly Ford Evans, Pam Barnett Padgett, Natalia Andreeva, Perry Austin, Studio by Mary O and myself.
🎨✨ It’s officially Plein Air season… and if you’re an artist, you know it doesn’t always go perfectly.
Sometimes you forget materials.
Sometimes your palette is a mess.
Sometimes you’re working with half the supplies you meant to bring.
But honestly? That’s part of the magic.
There’s something freeing about letting go of perfection, adapting in the moment, and experimenting with whatever you have in front of you. Some of the most unexpected (and favorite) pieces come from those “make it work” moments.
So here’s to painting outside, embracing the imperfections, and finding joy in the process. 🌿☀️
