Psalm 22:1–2 When God Feels Silent

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest.” Psalm 22:1–2 (ESV)

There are moments in life when it feels like our prayers hit the ceiling. We pray for healing, direction, peace, or answers, yet all we seem to hear is silence. David wasn’t afraid to admit that he felt this way. He poured out his heart honestly before God, asking the difficult question, “Why have you forsaken me?”

What’s remarkable is that even in his pain, David begins with the words, “My God.” His feelings told him God was distant, but his faith still held on to the relationship. He didn’t walk away from God because of God’s silence-he ran to Him with his questions.

Centuries later, Jesus would quote these same words while hanging on the cross. In His darkest moment, He experienced the weight of our sin so that we could be brought near to God. Because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross, we can know that even when God feels silent, He has not abandoned His children.

If you’re walking through a season where God seems distant, remember this: God’s silence is not the same as God’s absence. He is often working in ways we cannot yet see. Faith isn’t pretending everything is okay; it’s continuing to trust God’s character even when you don’t understand His plan.

Challenge: What is something you’ve been praying about that feels unanswered? Instead of giving up, bring your honest thoughts and emotions to God today. He already knows your heart, and He invites you to trust Him through the waiting.

Prayer

Father, thank You that I don’t have to hide my struggles from You. When You seem silent, help me remember that You are still present and still working. Strengthen my faith to trust You even when I can’t see what You’re doing. Thank You for sending Jesus, who understands our suffering and has made a way for us to have a relationship with You. In His name, amen.

In Mark 12, Jesus confronts religious hypocrisy, answers difficult questions, reveals His identity as the Messiah, and teaches what matters most to God.
✨ Key Truth:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength… and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31)
Mark 12 reminds us that following Jesus is more than religious activity—it’s wholehearted devotion, genuine love, and complete surrender to the King.
🌼Jesus is Lord over every area of life.
🌼True worship comes from the heart.
🌼Faithfulness matters more than appearance.
