This week in Ms. Scroggins’s Education Professions, students finished up their IEP Timeline Steps project, watched a video of a simulation done to give parents and educators an idea of what it’s like to have a learning disability in the classroom, had a school psychologist guest speaker, and lastly, completed an activity that allowed students to try to complete a task with a disability. Only one more full week of school, future Education Professionals! Great job! 📚🎓✏️📓

This week in Mrs. Scroggins’s Education Professions class, students learned all about the different special education categories. After comparing them, students went in depth with understanding the difference between accommodations and modifications in the classroom. Finally, for a project to finish the unit about special education and IEPs, each student, either by themselves or with a partner, will create a timeline regarding the steps taken in order to properly assist a student in getting an IEP. This week in Mrs. Scroggins’s Education Professions class, students continued to gain knowledge on exceptional learners. After, the class created a large slideshow presentation displaying different implements schools have for these types of students. Overall, students have a deep understanding of ways schools modify and accommodate for exceptional learners. Great job future education professionals! 📚🎓✏️🚌

This week, Mrs. Scroggins’s Education Professions class started a new unit on Gifted Exceptional Learners. Gifted Exceptional Learners are students who are academically advanced and will sometimes require an extra challenge. Therefore, the teacher needs to make modifications to their class and lessons to accommodate the needs of these students. Last week, Mrs. Scroggins’s Education Professions class took notes and looked at examples of different assessments, so they could fully understand how assessments play a role in the classroom. From learning their musical notes to a Coke and Mentos experiment, students got an opportunity to pretend they were a teacher for the day and taught their classmates! Each student got to choose a grade level and subject, create a lesson plan, and present it to the class! Then, on Wednesday, students took a field trip to White Cliffs Middle School to observe teaching strategies in middle school classrooms. Great job future education professionals!! 📚🎓✏️🚌📓

This week, Mrs. Scroggins’s Education Professions class learned about how to properly create a lesson plan. Students learned about how to assess and meet students’ needs. Afterward, these future education professionals got to create a lesson plan by themselves and will get to present it to the class or even go to a different school to teach for their lesson. Another great week!! 📚📌✂️🎓✏️🚌📓
