“Hi, KGES families! I’m Melissa, and I’m so excited to serve on the KGES PTA Board for the 2026–2027 school year! This will be my third year serving as PTA Treasurer, and I’m grateful for the many years I’ve been part of our PTA and school community.

I’m a mom of five, with a 3rd grader and 5th grader here at KGES, along with three older children. Oldest son is a graduate of UMW, and two older daughters are currently at UVA—one entering her first year and one entering her third year!

Our family also loves animals. We have two dogs, a turtle, a hamster, chickens, and my husband keeps honey bees! 🐶🐢🐹🐔🐝
Needless to say, our house stays busy! 😊

Outside of PTA, I’ve worked at Dahlgren for the past 20 years as a scientist and program manager supporting laser weapon development for our Navy. ⚓

I serve on the PTA because I want to be as involved in my children’s school experience as possible. As a full-time working mom, finding the time can be challenging, but I believe it is so important—and incredibly rewarding. I love advocating for our kids, helping create fun and memorable experiences, and doing whatever I can to help make school the best experience possible.

I also love supporting our incredible teachers and staff. I know how much they care, how hard they work, and how much they pour into our children every single day. They are truly appreciated, and it’s a blessing to have the opportunity to give back and support them in any way we can. ❤️

I’m SO excited about our amazing PTA Board this year and the wonderful school family we have at KGES. I’m looking forward to working together, making memories, supporting our kids and staff, and making 2026–2027 an unforgettable year!

“Hello! My name is Sarah Beth Rodrigues and this is my 6th year at King George Elementary School and it is my pleasure to serve as the 2nd Vice president for the KGES PTA! 💚

I am going into my 17th year in the field of Speech and Language Pathology and my 11th year in the school system. It is my passion to help children find their way of communicating!

I am married to my Elementary sweetheart and together, we have two boys: Isaac (11) and Elijah (8) as well as two dogs: Junior and Lucy and a whole farm of animals including: goats, ducks, and chickens! 🚜

This year I am blessed to be working part time at KGES as well as homeschooling my two boys and I am beyond thrilled to continue to serve the students, staff, and families in this role for the PTA!

I am looking forward to a fantastic school year! 🎊”

When I’m not working or helping with the PTA, I love spending time with my husband and our kiddos, making memories and enjoying all the little moments that come with family life.

It was so great seeing familiar faces and new faces of those who attended Open House today!

The PTA board wanted to send a big “Thank you!” to everyone who signed up to become a member of our KGES PTA as well as those who took the information home to consider.

If you missed signing up at Open House today, that’s ok! There’s still plenty of time to sign up.

We are offering a discounted membership fee of $8 until 9/18 AND a pizza party for the winning class with the most PTA members by 9/18!
