Sound School Freshmen Camping Trip

Every year, Sound School's freshmen class ventures off into the woods for a few days to learn a little about each other and even more about themselves.

This page is intended to provide information to students and parents in the days leading up to our annual Freshmen Camping Trip. While away, photos will be posted to the page, along with updates on the activities we have enjoyed and the things we have learned. The Class of 2018 will leave Sound on Wednesday October 8th at 8:45 and return on Friday October 10th at 2:00. Questions and concerns may be directed to Randy Howe at [email protected].

The car is packed with the first round of waters and snacks to be delivered to Deer Lake today! Donations, including cardboard and duct tape, are still welcome!!!

I just checked the weather and it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful week for camping!!! Chilly at night, though, so make sure the kids have enough warm gear and a sleeping bag.

Freshmen Camping Trip Update
September 25 2018

To All Sound School Freshmen and Their Families,

This note is to inform you of our current status in regards to the camping trip. We have also included the packing list as a reminder.

Currently, we are working on (re)scheduling our trip and are optimistic that we will be able to put together an exciting and educational plan! We are currently waiting to hear whether or not Deer Lake can staff the trip as originally planned (10/3-10/5), can staff the trip but for two days and one night only (10/4-10/5), or not staff the trip at this time, so we will schedule for the spring. As soon as we know the details, we will be sure to share. In the meanwhile, thank you for your patience!

On a different note, if you are on Facebook, feel free to like the Sound School Freshmen Camping Trip page as we will post updates there and once we go on the trip will post photos, etc.

PACKING LIST

*Sleeping bag, pillow, and maybe an extra blanket
*Reusable water bottle
*Sneakers/boots
*Change of underwear and socks
*Shorts and long pants/jeans
*Short- and long sleeve shirts
*Bathing suit and towel
*Sweatshirt, windbreaker, and rain gear
*Flashlight and extra batteries
*Comb or brush
*Soap
*Toothbrush and toothpaste
*1 or 2 plastic garbage bags (carry in/carry out!)
*All necessary medications (please be sure to complete the appropriate form and to give these medications to Randy the day before we depart.
*Cell phone (students will have 20 minutes to call home) with name written on tape.

Whereas we thought that the camping trip had to be canceled, we just received news this afternoon that we are still on. We are awaiting confirmation that Deer Lake can still accommodate us 10/3-10/5. Stay tuned for more news soon!!!
