Kerrville Homeschoolers Kerrville Homeschoolers is a parent-led community for homeschoolers in Kerrville and sorrounding areas. We host free community days, classes, and field trips.

This is not a co-op or nonprofit. Membership is free. A parent must be present with their child.

I love packing paper! It makes the best presentations and is incredibly versatile.

This week, we used packing paper in so many creative ways:

☄️ My Rocks and Minerals students created space rock presentations.

🐻 My son made a presentation about an animal found in Maine.

🪶 My other son created a Native American presentation.

📚 Today, I used packing paper to create a sample book report!

Packing paper gives children plenty of room to organize information, add illustrations, and share what they have learned. It is inexpensive, hands-on, and works for almost any subject!

This week in Rocks and Minerals, we learned about space rocks! I was able to purchase six space rocks so the students could closely observe them and touch and feel their different textures.

Halfway through the lesson, we decided to smash three of the rocks to discover what was inside. Of course, all the kids were excited! Even though we only opened three rocks, every student had an opportunity to participate, examine the pieces, and share what they noticed.

The students compared the rocks’ colors, textures, and interiors. It was a fun, hands-on way to bring our lesson to life and encourage curiosity, observation, and teamwork!

If your child started classes yesterday, today they should be working on their learning extensions.

Lorenzo has already completed his spelling work and is now working on a project about Maine.

Learning extensions are an important part of the educational process. They allow students to practice newly learned skills, reinforce information covered in class, and discover new information. The more connections students make, the more likely they are to understand and retain what they have learned.

Here’s a peek at the Kerrville Homeschoolers calendar for August and September! 📅

At Kerrville Homeschoolers, we are always working to bring local homeschool families together. Our free Wednesday Community Days give children opportunities to make friends, play, explore, and build lasting connections. We also offer exciting field trips and special events that bring homeschool children and parents together throughout the year.

We are always adding more activities and opportunities, so stay tuned for updates!

Homeschooling may happen at home, but it should never feel lonely. No family should have to walk through their homeschool journey alone. 💚

The Meet & Greet was such a hit! 🎉 I’m already starting to plan our next Junior High & High School get-together for about three weeks from now!

Parents, please ask your teen/preteen what they would like to do next:
