Safer Soccer

Safer Soccer Safer Soccer is a subgroup of Jason Arthur Taylor's Washington, DC Pick-up Soccer, the largest soccer group in DC with over 7,000 members. Why soccer? Why safer?

We were established in 2010 for the purpose of enjoying the benefits of soccer without the brain injury risks. This is the page for Safer Soccer. Each week we enjoy this very friendly game using a foam ball. All while getting a great workout. No soccer experience is required. Studies confirm that you get a better workout from soccer than by jogging or running which can lead to a weak stom

ach, back, and neck. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/20/AR2007092001327.html That's why if you're a runner and play game you'll be sore all over the next few days. If you look at our profile picture, you will see a blue X. That is because that sort of thing cannot happen during our game. You see, we use use a light, foam ball instead of a heavy, hard ball. This makes the game much more fun because when people eventually get hit by the ball they just laugh instead of feel pain. It's ideal for mixed sex play (which is dangerous in normal soccer) and newbies to soccer, since toe kicks, which put less stress on your knees, won't hurt your toes. There are other changes we made. Secondary benefits include being better for your brain and more fun, healthy, mental, 3D, strategic, and cooperative. See http://articles.latimes.com/1995-08-13/news/mn-34764_1_iq-test . The game is north of the Washinton, DC, Beltway by 5 minutes or so. We respond to all inquiries within 24 hours. The next game is Saturday at 5:30 pm unless there is rain.
