So many families tell similar stories like this one. Trust your instinct. Get a private evaluation if you can. Private schools for dyslexia have far better prepared to educate students with dyslexia. However, not everyone has these options.

How many syllables? If a word has 2 letters between the vowels, split them. (But never split digraphs, units or Rotten Letters!)

This hits close to home. We just found out a close adult family member’s struggles with reading. I suspected it but never had the courage to ask. Now being a Barton tutor and seeing the red flags, I did ask and it was heartbreaking to hear their story.

Thanks Dyslexia Inspired for the reminder that reading struggles will never resolve itself without intervention.
