We started as a group of public school teachers that wanted to have a butterfly garden in our own community, and Kearny gladly supported us. We h

ave used the garden to teach others, spread awareness of the importance of host and nectar plans, learn more about butterflies, and of course to relax and enjoy. Our vision is to have every public school in Kearny learning, cultivating, and growing with our garden. We want to have our neighboring towns see the success and beauty of our garden and want to start their own. We want to cultivate other leaders in our community that will help our garden grown and spread to other locations. The Town of Kearny generously donated this land to our garden and has been very supportive ever since. Mayor Alberto Santos and the members of the Town Council even stop by the garden and help us w**d or enjoy the flowers. The DPW has supplied us with a watering system, a wooden fence, all the woodchips we need, and even bought us some plants. We all believe that our butterfly garden helps our urban town stand out among our neighbors, and helps make Kearny an even better place to live.
