Highway D resurfacing begins tomorrow

The Brown County Highway Department plans to close Highway D from Wrightstown to Hollandtown on Thursday, Aug. 20, at 6 a.m. for resurfacing the degraded asphalt surface.
Brown County Highway Commissioner Chris Hardy said the project involves removal of the asphalt, re-grading, and laying new asphalt from Highway 96 in Wrightstown to Highway Z.
The project is slated to be completed around the end of September.
Related to this is the replacement of the bridge over a branch of the Plum Creek adjacent to Arla Foods (White Clover Dairy) in 2028. Along with that project, Highway D will be resurfaced from Highway Z to the Calumet County line, which was resurfaced earlier this year from the county line to Highway 10.
In addition, both counties, along with the Town of Holland and Town of Woodville, are investigating the possibility of adding traffic controls at the intersection of Highway D and Highway KK/Man Cal Road.

BIG NEWS in Southern Brown County tonight where the Rockland town board and Greenleaf village board approved an intergovernmental agreement, each by 3-0 votes, to effectively merge and the entire area is set to become the Village of Greenleaf. Rockland residents may ask for a referendum (with the required number of signatures) within 31 days to force a town-wide vote on the decision. Unfortunately this week's paper has already gone to press but there will be full coverage in the Aug. 19 newspaper.

In response to the July 27, 2026, tornado that devastated communities in the tri-county region of Winnebago, Calumet, and Outagamie counties, the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region along with United Way Fox Cities and the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation have activated the Community Response Fund 2026 Tornado Relief. Together, they are working to move resources responsibly to support the nonprofits and community organizations at the center of the tornado relief and recovery efforts.
