Heads up, on Thursday, April 2, between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM, emergency alert systems across Texas will be tested as part of a coordinated effort requested by the Texas Division of Emergency Management.
What to expect:
• You may receive a phone call, text message, and/or email notification
• You may hear outdoor warning sirens depending on your location
• You may receive more than one alert, especially if you live near or are signed up to receive alerts from neighboring jurisdictions
Important:
• This is only a test. No action is required
• Do not call 911 unless you have a life-threatening emergency
A quick reminder:
Emergency alert systems play a critical role in keeping our community safe. You may notice increased testing from agencies across the region; this is done to ensure systems are working when they are needed most. We encourage residents to remain patient with these tests and not opt out of notifications, as doing so may limit your ability to receive important, life-saving information during an actual emergency.

Guys.... It's a fire truck, not a Mardi Gras float.
🤣🚒 Happy April Fools' Day from SMCFD! 🚒🤣
We love a good joke, but fire safety is never a prank! 🔥🚫 As you enjoy the fun today, remember:
🔥 Fake smoke is funny. Real smoke isn’t. Test your smoke alarms! 🚨
🔥 "I set the kitchen on fire" is NOT a joke. Keep an eye on your cooking! 👀🍳
🔥 Pranks should never involve fire, fireworks, or flammable materials! 🚫🔥
Stay safe, laugh a lot, and if you need us—we’re always here (no joke)! 😆🚒

Fort Bend County EMS is really put in the work to take care of the rural parts of their district. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I sure hope these Equines get along with Harris County Sheriff's Office at this year's Lonestar Safety Fest. Remember, we work together and have carrots for the good horses.
🚨 Fort Bend County EMS Announcement 🚨
In continued efforts to expand operational capabilities, we are proud to introduce our newest deployment model:
Equine Mounted Paramedic Response Units (EMPRU) 🐎
These specialized three-member units are designed for:
• Rapid response in rural and off-road environments
• Enhanced mobility during large-scale events
Each unit is staffed by highly trained personnel with advanced competencies in:
• Field medicine
• Mounted navigation
• Tactical dismounts
Early studies show improved scene access, strong patient engagement, and significantly higher morale—especially from the horses.
Saddled up. Ready to respond.
One patient at a time.

So excited for our partners at Fort Bend County EMS! Hopefully this new apparatus isn't so busy they have to miss this year's Lonestar Safety Fest
🚨 Fort Bend County EMS Announcement 🚨
We are excited to share the expansion of our response capabilities with the addition of an aeromedical division to better serve our community.
Introducing Fort Bend AirCare 654 🚁
Why 654? To honor 54 years of service to Fort Bend County since April 1972—while staying in line with our 600 unit designations.
This initiative aims to reduce response times, improve access to critical patients, and elevate prehospital care across the county.
Special thanks to our crews who have already begun “training” on advanced flight operations this week… some of them are taking to it a little too well.
Clear skies ahead, Fort Bend.

If you stopped by Lonestar Safety Fest 2025, you probably saw this legendary bird turning heads, the HH-46E Sea Knight, affectionately known by crews as “Pedro.”
First flown in the early 1960s, the HH-46E Sea Knight was a versatile tandem-rotor workhorse for the U.S. Marine Corps, performing daring search-and-rescue missions around the world. The Corps retired the Sea Knight in 2015, replacing it with the MV-22 Osprey, but its legacy still flies high. The specific aircraft featured at Safety Fest "157678" was operated by Marine Transport Squadron 1 (VMR-1), the “Roadrunners.”
This isn’t Pedro’s first rodeo either, it’s been featured twice at Lonestar Safety Fest, quickly becoming a fan favorite. With its unmistakable double rotors and tough-as-Texas look, it’s no wonder people can’t stop snapping photos.
A huge thank you to the National United States Armed Forces Museum for bringing this iconic piece of Marine Corps history back to Safety Fest and giving our community the chance to see it up close.
