Meet our other tutor, Haley!

Haley graduated 10th in her class of 650 students in Sugar Land, Texas. While in high school, she took a test preparation class through her district that helped her so much she became a National Merit Finalist and a Presidential Scholar due to her perfect ACT score. She was also a member of Band (section leader!), Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honor Society, and English Honor Society. While still in high school, she began tutoring test preparation to help others achieve the same goal she had been able to attain. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Visual and Dramatic Arts at Rice University. She graduated early and began tutoring full time to help her care for her 1 year old son. She tutored a variety of subjects - every single level of math from 1st grade to BC Calculus, ACT, SAT, Economics, English and essay editing, and even some Science courses - for 3 years before getting her certification to become a teacher. She started teaching in 2019 (yes, the first Covid year) with Geometry and Pre-Calculus. She moved to Katy in 2021 and became the Geometry Pre-AP Team Lead and the Math Coach for Academic Decathlon. Over the years, she has grown her position at her school, and she is currently launching an SAT Prep course at her school to help her students become even more successful. She is about to head into her first year of teaching Statistics. She and her husband now live in Katy with her son, 2 dogs, and 6 cats. She spends most weekends watching her son play baseball or reading a book. She is thrilled to continue her career in education and hopes to help her students reach their goals.

Meet our tutors!

Maddie graduated Valedictorian of her high school class in Elbert, Colorado. During her time there, she fell in love with tutoring as a class aide for a 5th grade classroom, pulling small groups of students out of class for “Math Time With Maddie.” She was also involved in NHS, Science Club, Volleyball, Cheer, and Student Council. She went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Biomechanical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, where she met her husband. During her time in college, Maddie began a job tutoring ACT and SAT prep and fell even further in love with helping students better understand test taking strategies and math. She graduated in 2017 and began her first job in engineering, but something felt like it was missing… students! She left her engineering job and became a full-time tutor at Colorado Early College in Parker, Colorado. She and her husband then decided to move to Houston and Maddie became a math interventionist for 7th and 8th grade students who needed extra support to pass the STAAR test. During her time as an interventionist, she went back to school and earned her teaching license. Armed with her new license, she became an Algebra 1 teacher, learning all she could about test taking strategies for STAAR. She is now working as a team lead for Algebra 2 at her school in Alief, a summer school algebra interventionist, and a mom to her baby girl, Cora, and her dogs, Winston and Ally. She has a passion for working with kids one-on-one and in small groups to try to identify individual knowledge gaps and work to create understanding. She loves sharing her knowledge of test taking skills and strategies with students to help them reach their goals.
