🚀✨ More STARBASE adventures!

Ms. Manner’s 5th graders had an exciting first visit to STARBASE filled with hands-on STEM challenges! From launching straw rockets 🚀 and protecting Eggbert during their egg-launch challenge 🥚 to exploring molecules with Happy Atoms ⚛️, these Panthers were busy thinking, creating, and problem-solving!

June is a first grader who was chosen to capture her day because she is always kind to others, works hard even when things get challenging, and consistently makes good choices. We can’t wait to see Oak Grove from her point of view! 💚

You may have noticed that both of our Panther POV photographers have been first graders so far. Since Ms. Furminger manages our OG social media, we are testing this new idea with her class first! As she works out the kinks and finds the best ways to make Panther POV successful, more classrooms and grade levels will get their turn with the camera. 📷✨

🚀🧪 Our 5th graders had a BLAST during their first visit to STARBASE!

Students jumped right into hands-on STEM learning with straw rockets 🚀, the Eggbert challenge 🥚- designing a way to launch an egg over a wall while keeping it protected - and exploring Happy Atoms! ⚛️✨

So much experimenting, problem-solving, teamwork, and fun packed into one visit. We can’t wait to see what they get to explore next! 💚🐾

Our Panthers got to enjoy some colorful tie-dye yogurt 🌈🥄, while Tuesday’s Teacher Special featured White Chicken Chili with a cinnamon roll on the side! 😋

Ms. Ruiz’s students put their math skills to work using crackers and plates to create equal groups and explore multiplication in a hands-on way! ➗✏️ Working together, they practiced identifying the number of groups and how many were in each group.

📚✨ Meet Our Library Helpers! ✨📚

Say hello to Karelli, Mateo, Abril, and Iris! 💚🐾 These incredible 5th graders help keep our library running smoothly by picking up and scanning books, delivering library and technology materials, and taking care of so many other important tasks throughout the school!

You’ll see these helpful Panthers out and about in the hallways each day, so be sure to give them a wave and say hello! 👋📖

After winter break, a new group of 4th grade students will step into the Library Helper role. We’re so thankful for our students who help make Oak Grove such a great place to learn! 💚

Our PTA Membership Drive begins today, Monday, August 31! Membership forms will be sent home with your child, and the classroom with the most parents and guardians to join will win a PIZZA PARTY! 🍕🎉

Joining PTA is an easy way to support Oak Grove! Membership money goes directly back to our students and school by helping fund events and programs like our school carnival, Santa Shop, teacher grants, and more. 💚🐾

And remember - you do not have to attend meetings or volunteer unless you want to! Simply becoming a member makes a difference.

Be sure to check your child’s backpack for the sign-up form. Let’s see which classroom can bring in the most members! 🏆
