Kansas City Chinese School North (KCCSN) invited students and families from STARTALK program to have a potluck gathering at English Landing Park East Shelter on April 29, 2023. We had several families coming from the greater Kansas City metro area. Some families came from Overland Park, KS.

First, children guided by teacher Li to do a paper folding/cutting on rabbit. They were wondering the craft in their hands since it didn't look like a rabbit. Until the last moment when teacher Li showed us to blow into the craft, a lovely rabbit appeared!

Next, families shared the food, snacks, and drinks. We had Chinese food, American food, Mexico food, etc.

Although it was a little winding, it was still great to meet people, do some crafts, taste food and have fun!

Our next gathering in at the same location on June 17, 6 - 8. Mark your calendar!

There are still spots available. We extend the grade eligibility to 5th - 12th. So if you have a 5th/12th grader at home, please submit your application as soon as possible.

Our program last for 10 month, including a two-week full-day summer camp. It is completely FREE. We offer FREE lunch and FREE field trip in the summer!

Kansas City Chinese School North (KCCSN) invites teacher Li to host a FREE Chinese calligraphy class in Green hill Library Center on April 1, 2023.

Participants learned how to hold a brush pen properly, control the motion of the brush pen, and balance the mixing of water and ink. Participants practice writing simple Chinese strokes on rice paper with large grids and writing Chinese characters on treated rice paper.

Some students came with their parents. What a great way to have a family day out!

Program Schedule:

Feb 18 – May 20, 2023 (online), ten-weekend pre-camp virtual classes, once a week.
June 12 – June 23, 2023 (in-person), Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 3:00 pm daily.
August 19 – December 9, 2023 (online), follow-up twelve-weekend virtual classes, once a week.

Our Chinese New Year Temple Fair is a big success. Around 200 - 300 showed up at our Temple Fair. People came from all directions and regions, including Parkville, Platte Woods, Smithville, Liberty, Kansas City and as far as Olathe, Overland Park and Topeka!

We have so much fun! See you next year at Feb 3, 2024!
