During the summer, GEAR UP students spent a week at AI Camp at the University of Kansas!

The AI Camp was a HIP+AI Inquiry Experience where students identified challenges in their communities and learned how to ethically use AI to develop and present their own ideas and solutions.

Throughout the week, students researched and shared where they would like to see their communities grow, developed products and presentations, and presented what they learned and created to their HIP+AI cohort. Students also had the opportunity to tour KU campus!

GEAR UP KCK and KCMO students wrapped up their Summer Overnight Trip with a campus visit to the University of Iowa! Students experienced college life as a Hawkeye and learned more about the opportunities available to them after high school.

After three days, three college campuses, and plenty of new adventures, it was the perfect way to close out an unforgettable trip!

GEAR UP KCK and KCMO students started Day 2 of the Summer Overnight Trip with a campus tour of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where they experienced college life as a Badger.

The adventure continued at Cave of the Mounds, where students explored one of Wisconsin’s unique natural landmarks, before wrapping up the day with dinner at Essen Haus!

GEAR UP KCK and KCMO students kicked off their three-day journey to Madison, Wisconsin, with a stop at Iowa State University! ❤️💛
Students toured campus, experienced college life as a Cyclone, learned more about the admissions process, and connected with the university’s TRIO program to discover the resources available to support them on their path to college.

KCK and KCMO teachers joined GEAR UP and the KU School of Education and Human Sciences for three days of professional development focused on learning, collaboration, and bringing fresh ideas back to the classroom!

Throughout the sessions, teachers practiced new strategies, exchanged ideas with colleagues, participated in hands-on activities, and discovered creative ways to engage students.
