Punxsutawney Phil was up early this morning…he did NOT see his shadow and predicts an early spring!! 🎉🎉🎉
It already feels like spring here with the unusually warm weather we’ve had. 50’s and 60’s is not the norm for January/February in Kansas but I’ll take it!!
It’s so hard not to get out in the garden and start prepping/planting though when it is so warm.

A few pics from this evening’s hike at the Lake. It was so peaceful out there. Only thing I could hear was the geese & the swans.
I love watching & listening to the Trumpeter Swans when they’re in town. They’re so vocal!
We had a Bald Eagle swoop down right over us. About 100’ from where that happened there was a dead duck so it must’ve been feeding or getting ready to when we came through.
After taking a week off because of the extreme weather, Daisy was so excited to be back on the trails.
Anybody else go hiking in their area to stay in shape or clear their heads?

What’s holding you back?
Years past, many things held me back. Fear of the unknown, fear of looking stupid, fear of failing, fear of what others thought.
This is something I’ve worked really hard on for the last few years. While I still have a ways to go in certain situations, I’m learning not to be attached to the outcome and go for it!

If you never “take the shot,” you may still be stuck in the same place this time next year. Or you could be in a better spot-be that financially, career-wise, relationship-wise, or even where you live.
What are you holding back from?

One of the things that I do in order to try and a live a healthier version of myself is to grow my own and raise chickens for eggs. I like knowing where my food comes from and that no chemicals are used in the growing of it.
We’ve gotten 6” of heavy, wet ❄️ so far since yesterday & it’s still coming down. It’s so peaceful!!
I love how pretty it looks clinging to my blackberry and grape vines, the trees, and the trellises.
Days like today though, the “girls” refuse to come out of the coop-even my heavy breed ones meant for colder weather. I have to shovel a pathway through my yard 🤦🏼♀️ in order for them to come up to get water from their heated container so it doesn’t freeze. For those wondering, it’s bad to have water in their coop in the winter- it increases humidity & likelihood of them getting frostbite on their combs/toes.
Im grateful for the snow day and am using it to be productive around the house.

I’m curious, how many people set New Year’s resolutions this year??
Have you set them in the past?
Did you stick to your resolutions or did the fizzle out after a few days, few weeks, few months?

Fun fact: Type “thank my driver” into the search bar of your Amazon app and your most recent driver will be given an extra $5 at no cost to you.
What a wonderful way to spread some holiday cheer! I already did it, if you order as much off Amazon as I do (🤦🏼♀️) just take a second out of your busy day and do it also.

I shared this idea a few years ago on my personal page, but too cute not to share again.

What are boundaries?
An invisible line that defines which behaviors will be accepted by a person.
Why are they important?
It’s a form of self-care that shows what you will and won’t accept from others. It shows a desire to be respected and feel safe.
By setting healthy boundaries, you can improve relationships, decrease your stress levels, reduce burnout, and improve your own emotional health. What I mean by improving emotional health, is that it can reduce anger, anxiety, and resentment, in addition to allowing you to feel happier, more peaceful, and have greater self-esteem.
If someone fails to respect your boundaries, it shows they don’t respect you and that’s not healthy.
You should consider how you will handle situations of people not respecting boundaries.
If it’s a new boundary in a previously established friendship/relationship, do you want to give them just one chance & then you’re done? Maybe 2-3 chances, especially if you previously accepted or tolerated a behavior from them and they may slip in trying to respect your new boundaries? It’s not healthy to give them unlimited chances or they will never try to respect you or your boundaries and that is a toxic person/relationship.
For some situations/relationships, it’s as easy as unfriend-ing someone on social media. For other situations, you may need to delete or even block a contact. I’ve even had to make extremely hard choices to leave friendships of many years because of disrespect. It hurts to do this, but in time, it gets easier and you realize how much stress that friendship was actually causing.
Whatever boundaries you set, be consistent. If someone you know sets new boundaries, do your best to respect those new boundaries.
