It's National Cat Day and therefore my duty and privilege to celebrate Lola, aka Miss Muffin aka Lolaroo, for her invaluable contributions to the work we do in the garden and the crafting room/office.
Lola takes her work seriously and has been an exemplary supervisor of our plant maintenance and processing divisions. She is consistent and reliable, with a perfect attendance record in the field while somehow also finding the time to manage her own local made-to-order biscuit factory.
She's a gentlecat of many hats and I'm convinced there's nothing she can't do (except ever be allowed on a table or countertop) 💝

Fasciation is always fascinating to me 💕
Fasciation is a rare distortion of expression caused by a disruption of the plant's normal growth pattern. It's typically a harmless mutation but can be caused by disease, poison, or other factors 🦠
It presents as a second bloom on the same stem (or even triple or more, as seen with my bee balm example on the left) 🐝
They may be mutants, but they're my mutants and I love them.

Mulberry, mycelium, and monarda, oh my!
Heads up Botanica fans and fam:
I will not be at the Summer Faire at Antioch Urban Growers this Saturday. I'm still processing last week's harvest and am finishing up some new and exciting blends that I am so excited to share with you!
In the meantime, here's a peek at what a typical "day off" from Daily Culture Kombucha looks like for me. I start early to beat the heat- first in my own garden then I make my rounds to the various yards, gardens, and foraging spots granted to me over the years. To avoid overwhelm and over harvesting, I only take what I know I will use and save the rest for next time.
Now it's time to get back home to unload and start drying!

Bergamot bussin 🎉
I've been waiting for this bee balm to burst for weeks and she finally did 🥳
She is absolutely breathtaking and I just stood and admired her perfection for a few minutes before I relieved her of a bucket of blooms.
I didn't make much of a dent, because I needed to let the pollinators work in peace. I'll be back tomorrow for another round 🧺
I think they were as happy for our little debutante as I was 🐝😍🦋
