Drawing tonight at Louie's Corner Bar in Texas Corners on the reMarkable tablet. The trivia crowd and taxidermy rich ambience are so fun to sketch.

Looking for a creative activity your child can jump into right away? I’m accepting weekly drop-ins alongside my Winter Season students.

Drop-in artists complete a finished drawing in 90 minutes using my guided gridding method — a simple way to teach proportion and help kids place shapes accurately instead of guessing.

Last Sunday in youth art class, students began their hybrid animal self-portraits in celebration of Lunar New Year!

They used mirrors and photo reference to draw their own faces, building their portraits using simple shapes before adding features like ears, snouts, and texture.

Next week, they’ll use red and gold to color their portraits!

There are still a few seats available for this session.
If your child (ages 7–12) would enjoy learning new drawing skills each week, DM me for details.😃

If you’ve tried finding art classes for kids in Kalamazoo or Portage, you’ve probably noticed how limited the options are.

My Winter Season Youth Art Classes give families an affordable, structured option where kids can build skills over multiple weeks—not just attend a one-off activity.

Classes begin Feb 15. Ages 7–12.

Winter Art Season FAQ

Q: Can I stay at the studio or run errands?
A: Yes. Bright House has a lobby right next to the classroom where parents can sit, chat, or peek in. You’re also welcome to run errands and come back before class ends.

Q: Why do I need to sign up for all four classes?
A: Each season includes projects that span multiple classes. Students work on a single project over two sessions, which allows time for revision, detail, and stronger results. New skills are introduced every class, and the consistent group helps everyone know what to expect.

Q:What do I need to bring?
A: Just your child. I provide all art materials, plus a free portfolio to protect and carry their finished work.

Classes begin Feb 15.!

Throughout history, artists have been drawing and painting their favorite cats. Here's a picture I took of a gorgeous cat etching at the American Museum of the House Cat. This week, young artists will learn how to draw their favorite animals!
