We are excited to celebrate a major achievement from our program! ๐ŸŽ‰
๐Ÿ† Adedayo Adeyeye (EMR PhD Student) and their interdisciplinary team earned 1st Place in the Bronco Sustainability Challenge at Western Michigan University.
Their project focused on developing a recyclable and compostable coffee packaging solution that reduces plastic waste and supports a circular sustainability model. โ™ป๏ธโ˜•
This success reflects the power of collaboration, innovation, and real-world problem solving.

We are pleased to share that EMR students from Western Michigan University participated in AERA and NCME 2026.

๐ŸŽค AERA Round Table Presenters:
Mwila Mvula and Joshua Amponsah

Their paper, โ€œEmpowering a New Generation: Evaluation of the U.S. State Departmentโ€™s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) in Sub-Saharan Africa as a Future-Focused Educational Initiative,โ€ examines how evaluation can be used to understand leadership development and educational initiatives across contexts.

The Evaluation, Measurement, and Research (EMR) program at Western Michigan University continues its Evaluation Approaches series with a presentation by Chaya Braxton on Culturally Responsive Evaluation & Assessment (CREA).
CREA is an approach that places culture, equity, justice, and community voice at the center of evaluation practice. It helps evaluators move beyond traditional methods by recognizing lived experiences, collective knowledge, and cultural context as essential sources of evidence.

This special issue supports new authors, especially those who have never published in an academic journal, by connecting them with experienced scholars and mentors to advance high-quality, cost-inclusive evaluation scholarship and practice.

Congratulations to Albert Munyanyi for representing the Evaluation, Measurement, and Research (EMR) program at the Graduate College Research Poster Competition at Western Michigan University!

๐Ÿ† Albert was among the students who tied for second place, earning a $250 prize.

His research, โ€œRecurrent Marginality Across Educational Transitions,โ€ explores important themes related to belonging, social capital, and educational experiences.
