What better way to learn about mass gathering medicine than through experiential learning?! Today was our annual EMS Fellowship field trip to NASCAR weekend at Michigan International Speedway. Thank you to MIS for hosting us once again this year!

Taking advantage of the beautiful Michigan summer weather, conducting our intern didactic session outside on the med school patio. Today our interns are participating in orientation for our unique physician field response program that composes our longitudinal EMS curriculum.

Faculty member Dr. Maureen Ford delivered the morning plenary and a breakout session at the Supporting Recovery for Incarcerated Persons conference in Springfield, Illinois today. Like emergency departments, jails are critical touch points for prescribing medications for opioid use disorder, and she talked about strategies for doing that with jail administrators, officers, and health care workers from jails throughout the state.

Dr. Carter from ABEM - who discussed some historical milestones in EM, lifelong learning and the โ€œnewโ€ certifying exam.

Dr. Klein from Wayne State University - who discussed decision rules in EM.

One of our EM residency core faculty members, Dr. McCoy, served as a panelist today at the faculty development session titled, โ€œHonoring Choices: Talking with patients about life sustaining treatment choices.โ€

Several of our EM residency faculty and residents are AHA instructors, allowing us to host/teach our own AHA classes. Today a group of our pgy-2s were renewing their AHA certs.
