Hey Voters! It's time to turn in your ballots!
Here's what you need to know!

✅This is a Replacement, Not a New Tax.
This measure is a renewal of the levy passed in 2023. If it fails, the current funding will expire at the end of 2026, leading to immediate and significant cuts to staffing and programs.

✅Your Tax Rate is Projected to Decrease
While the total dollar amount has a small annual increase to keep up with inflation, the estimated tax rate is actually lower than the current collection year.

✅Why is it lower? As more people move to Kalama and property values grow, the cost of the levy is spread across more people, bringing the individual rate down for everyone.

✅What the "17% Gap" Actually Pays For
The state of Washington does not fully fund a complete school experience. In Kalama, this levy pays for the things that make our schools a community hub:
🏈Athletics & Activities: All MS and HS sports, clubs, and extracurriculars (combined with local ASB funds).
🎶 Arts: Band, music, drama, and STEAM programs.
😷Health & Safety: School counselors, health and security staff.
⏰ Chinook Station: Vital before-and-after school care for working families (combined with childcare dues).

💡 Transparency Corner: The BIG Question
"Why does the district need levy dollars?" In a district this size, that money isn't for "extras"—it’s for people. Over 80% of levy funds go directly to the salaries of paraeducators, counselors, and coaches who are not fully funded by the state. Without these funds, Kalama would have to increase class sizes and eliminate almost all non-academic programs.
