Aloha ambassadors of took our complex school principals on a tour to share the initiatives of the Transition Center to build community. Buddy benches provide a place for students to reach out and support each other. The rock garden is full of rocks that have been decorated by students of military families who have moved away. Their rock allows them to leave a part of them with Kainalu as they move on to their next chapter.

BACK TO SCHOOL
In preparation for the new school year, Kailua-Kalāheo Complex world language teachers joined to map out the year. Mahalo to our resources teachers, Emily Lam and Jingwoan Chang, from Office of Curriculum and Instructional Design for leading a workshop on HI-WRSLL and CCLT strategies. Our teachers now have new tools to help our students build proficiency in Japanese/Spanish.

Hi parents! Did you know your child can learn Spanish or Japanese from kindergarten all the way till 12th grade? Thanks to our DoDEA World Language grant, the Kailua-Kalāheo Complex is able to hire world language teachers, supply classrooms, purchase curriculums, and provide professional development opportunities for our teachers so they are always savvy with the most current and effective teaching practices.

is one of our elementary schools that offer Spanish. This booth at their math festival gave students the opportunity to show off their Spanish and apply their language learning skills to Japanese as well.

The kids loved discovering a new language and were confident as they identified similarities to learning Spanish. Happy to see them get excited about language learning!

On Feb 10th, our teachers met for our spring semester PLN at Kainalu Elementary. As part 3 of a PBLL workshop series with Rachel Mamiya-Hernandez, teachers shared the progress of PBLL projects their students have worked on this year.
