M36 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Auriga 💫. It’s also known as the Pinwheel Cluster because of its star pattern that looks like a spinning wheel.

M36 was first discovered by Giovanni Batista Hodierna before the year 1654. This star cluster is located about 4,100 light-years away from Earth.

What makes M36 special is that it contains no red giant stars, which tells us it's still very young for a star cluster, about 25 million years old! 🌟

M76 is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Perseus. This cosmic object has several fun nicknames, including the Little Dumbbell Nebula, Cork Nebula, and Barbell Nebula due to its unique shape.

M76 is about 2,500 light-years away from Earth and has an apparent magnitude of 12, meaning it’s quite faint and small in the night sky. That makes it one of the more challenging Messier objects to observe. A telescope and dark skies really help!

The best time to see M76 is during Winter months, when Perseus is high in the sky during the evening ❄️🌟.
