Hi! I am very encouraging and patient with students of all ages and abilities, and will teach you according to how you learn best. I will listen to what your needs are. I don't get mad or frustrated, and I don’t raise my voice. I like to offer genuine, specific encouragement to students when they improve or do something well. Instead of saying, “You’re awesome!”, I’ll say, “That was good how you remembered the negative sign.” I really enjoy teaching math and watching students improve.
I have 25 years of experience teaching math classes and tutoring college, high school and middle school students. I tutor Calculus (first semester), College Algebra, Trigonometry, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry (most concepts), Pre-Algebra, and the math sections of standardized tests (SAT, PSAT, ACT, etc.). I will help you with your homework and preparation for tests. I have taught in public and private schools, including Cleburne High School, Hill College, and Tarrant County College, and am certified by the state of Texas to teach secondary math. I have also taught a couple hundred homeschooled students privately and in small classes.
LOCATION
I can tutor in your home or mine. I live in Joshua, and can tutor students in Joshua, Burleson and south Crowley. When tutoring female students under age 18 at my house, I would like for a parent to be present at all times.
HOURS AVAILABLE
Monday thru Friday: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Sunday: 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM
COST
My rate is $30/hour in your home, or $25/hour in my own. I am flexible and can make arrangements according to your financial situation. I will work with you. I will also barter tutoring for handyman skills to help me fix my house or cars. If you want to try a free tutoring session for 30 minutes to see what you think, we can do that.
I am Covid vaccinated (both Pfizer shots). I’ll wear a mask if you want me to. I am a Christian and father of seven children (ages 17-26).
