Nothing happens by accident with these people that have been intentionally manufacturing chaos for years now.

Read below if you haven’t seen this already for a clear and concise explanation of the chain of events relayed by Brian Allen for CV School Board, who has been doing a fantastic job keeping the community informed of School Board related matters.

I have received several messages about this post placed on a local “media/news” page. Allow me to clarify a few things.

1. I became aware of some students discussing an anti-ICE walkout last week and relayed this to the district administration. I stressed that my concern was, first and foremost, about student safety and, second, district liability. A few other board members similarly were made aware and notified the administration.

2. The district’s administration responded appropriately by looking into this matter with due diligence. The proposal did not appear to gather steam, and it was not approved or otherwise sanctioned by the school board or the administration.

3. Drawing significant attention to these few scattered reports may have served to advertise and escalate the issue. Instead, the district decided to monitor the situation and respond with discipline for any student who walked out in accordance with the student handbook and district policy. Our superintendent, Dr. Blanchard, conveyed this to parents in an email this afternoon.

4. The administration briefed us on their findings and proposed responses last night during executive session, which is meant to be a confidential discussion among board members and the administration. I won’t speculate on how the events of that executive session were known to this “media/news” page.

5. Lastly, it is important to put this event in perspective. What was a relatively small and contained issue has now become a high-profile event that has resulted in wild rumors and allegations leveled at CV, our administration, and our teachers and staff. As many of you are well aware, there is a select group of individuals in our community who actively attempt to tear down CV and deliberately cause chaos. They have done it repeatedly over the past few years, and they do it for political reasons. There’s cause to believe they were behind the posting on this “media/news” page and the outrage created was their aim. While it is always my goal to put our students and schools over politics, they simply do not share that viewpoint. I ask you to remain calm, do not give them the outrage they want, and trust our administration to do their job.

Alexa Carreras and I had the pleasure of traveling to Johnstown to watch the Cumberland Valley Cheerleading girls compete Friday & Saturday and come home with the Silver medal!!

2nd in PA out of 41 teams in their Division!

I have been attending these State Champs for years, and we have seen a bunch of teams come and go as contenders. We are so fortunate to be part of experiencing CV Cheer teams they continue to deliver time and time again to put on a show for Cheer fans from across PA; and especially for the incredible CV Cheer community!!

The CV Fans showed up in droves to bring that home arena advantage that we have grown to love; this time it was 2+ hours away and we still brought it!!

Listen to the crowd in this clip!! So much energy and passion helping these girls bring their very best today!

We can’t wait to see them build on their success as they shift their focus to bring this Traditional routine along with Gameday to Nationals in early Feb!!

🦅❤️🖤

🦅Eagle Foundation December 2025 Update!

Take a look at the latest update from the Cumberland Valley Eagle Foundation—it’s an inspirational look at how our community support improves classroom opportuntiies and post-graduation explorations!

💡Did you know that the Eagle Foundation provides grants to teachers to support their classroom initiatives?

For example, they funded specialized gym equipment for Mr. Vecchiolli’s classes at Middlesex to expand options for every student to actively participate in PE.

They also provided grants for the chick hatching projects at Silver Spring and Hampden that the elementary kids loved so much.

🎓In November, they covered transportation costs for high school students to participate in an Applied Engineering, Safety, and Technology program at Millersville University.

Awesome!

🎉 16-STRAIGHT DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS! 🏆

If you've heard me at the school board meetings, you know exactly how I feel about this program—and today, they proved again why I rave about them!

A massive CONGRATULATIONS to the Cumberland Valley Cheerleading team for securing their 16th consecutive PIAA District Championship! What an incredible legacy!

The team showed up ready to compete, as always. They were relaxed, confident, and delivered that coveted "hit zero" routine with total focus and excellence!

This level of sustained achievement is built on the foundation provided by the amazing coaches we have. They instill the grit, discipline, and confidence that prepares these girls perfectly for these massive pressure moments, empowering them to succeed year after year.

We are so fired up to see them off to PIAA States in January! Let's go, CV! Keep making us proud! 🦅❤️🖤

But first, go get that top spot at UCA Regionals tomorrow!! Good luck!!!

🧠✨ Cumberland Valley School District passed a Generative AI policy last week — and the discussion behind it is important!

On 11/17, the board revisited proposed Policy 815.3 after it failed a Final Read adoption with a 4-4 vote on October 20th as a result of Mr. Barrick's introduction of concerns during the voting process.

⏰Dr. Blanchard reiterated a very clear explanation of why CV needs guardrails for AI right now — from student privacy, to misuse concerns, to keeping CV aligned with what other forward-thinking districts are already doing.

Paraphrasing Dr. Blanchard, adoption of this policy enables the District to:

1. Create and enforce Administrative Regulations (ARs) for AI use
2. Implement district-wide safeguards and vetting of AI tools
3. Provide consistent expectations across all 12 buildings
4. Address known issues of AI misuse in real time
5. Build curriculum-aligned, teacher-directed AI instruction

🛡️In short, this policy empowers the administration with the authority and structure to govern AI across our CV schools.

Financial Literacy in Action: Empowering Pennsylvania’s Students for Lifelong Success 11/17/2025

🎙️Financial Literacy - Critical to our students' lifelong success

During the Board Meeting this evening (11/17), you will hear an update from the Curriculum Committee regarding the expansion of the existing financial literacy elective ("Personal Money Management") currently available to our 10-12 graders into a mandatory .5 credit Financial Literacy Course.

📅This course is scheduled to begin next school year and be included as a mandatory course in all Junior year schedules.

✅Expanding upon the existing curriculum by incorporating additional learning topics and resources, our students will be in alignment and compliance with 2023/2024 State Senate Bill 843, and, more importantly, ensure foundational literacy across a wide range of personal finance management.

Here are two great resources to learn more about this Senate Bill and its importance, in PA AG Tim DeFoor's words:

✨Furthermore, in aligning to this legislative mandate and critical learning opportunity while respecting our current budgetary constraints, our administration has worked out a plan to implement this in a cost neutral manner:

1️⃣The course will be available to ALL Juniors without introducing additional staff, as the course can be provided with teachers holding a wide range of certifications.

2️⃣They have evaluated and identified freely available resources from Intuit and NextGen Personal Finance (e.g. https://www.ngpf.org/courses/semester-course )
