"I am a first generation American- a proud Jamaican Panamanian Italian American. I am the daughter of an immigrant and the proud mother of two disabled sons and my story isn’t possible in most other places in the world. I am proud to represent the US and I love my country dearly. 🇺🇸

As an athlete, I have trained my entire life to find my weaknesses, hone in on them, and work to improve them. I have trained my entire life to work to get 1% better every day. And in that regard, I feel the same about my country. As a country we are a work in progress, constantly adapting and changing and growing. We have our challenges but what makes us great is we are a people who work to make our country better- just like athletes who work daily to get better and win medals. We have so many great people across our nation that believe in the American Dream and are willing to fight for it. Likewise, I will always fight for my country- I will always fight for all to be accepted for who they are and do all to feel welcomed. So regardless of what challenges we may face, I will fight for my country because it’s my legacy to my children- I will fight for a better America for my boys.

So when you see me fighting on the Olympic ice to win a medal, know that I will equally fight for all of you. 🇺🇸"

From a friend in Iowa (this is so special): On the eve of the final day of the Bahá’í month of Mulk (Dominion), the Ayala household is getting ready for the Kindness elves sent by the Ayyám-i-há Fairy to help spread joy and love during the 5 days of Ayyám-i-há this year.
Tomorrow, written on a scroll for the girls will introduce the Kindness elves and Ayyám’í’Ha fairy for the first time:
🌸 High above the winter sky,
where soft pink clouds go drifting by,
lives the Ayyám-i-Há Fairy bright,
with twinkling wings of silver light.
She watches Earth when days grow cold,
when hearts need warmth more than gold.
“For these are days of joy,” she says,
“of giving love in gentle ways.”
So down she calls with sparkly cheer,
“Justice! Grace! The time is here!”
Two little elves step into sight—
one in purple, shining bright,
and one in pink, so soft and sweet,
with tiny boots on twinkling feet.
“We’re ready!” Justice laughs with pride,
his purple hat tipped to the side.
“We’ll spread fair hearts both far and wide!”
“And I,” says Grace with gentle face,
“I’ll sprinkle kindness every place!”
The Fairy smiles and gives a wink,
and pours them both a kindness drink.
It glows like sunlight, warm and clear—
the magic needed every year.
“But listen well,” the Fairy says,
“These are the Ayyám-i-Há Ways:
Rule number one:
Be kind each day,
In what you think, and do, and say.
Rule number two:
Give joy away—
A gift, a hug, a note, a play.
Rule number three:
If someone’s blue,
Find something loving you can do.
Rule number four:
Be fair and true—
Let Justice guide the best in you.
Rule number five:
Let Grace shine bright—
Use gentle hands and words of light.
And one more rule, both small and wise:
No touching elves — it’s no surprise!
Just like Hexabah, they must stay free
To keep their magic sparkly!
If hands don’t grab and fingers wait,
Their joy grows big — and works just great.
The elves both nod. They know the plan.
They’ve read the Kindness Book again!
“Lincoln and Lowen,” whispers Grace,
“We’ll visit them in their cozy place.
We’ll watch for chances big and small
To help them share love with all.”
Justice grins, his eyes aglow,
“There’s something special you should know…”
The Fairy laughs, her wings a blur:
“Hexabah might visit too, for sure!
Just one bright day to laugh and play,
If magic calls her down your way.”
With that, the elves slide down a star—
not very big, not very far—
and land where children laugh and play
to fill the world with brighter days.
And if you feel a warmth inside,
or choose brave kindness over pride,
or help someone without a fuss—
That might be Grace.
That might be Justice.
Or maybe both…
Helping child 1,
Helping child 2,
And helping all of us. ✨
