POV: you just opened the Elite Musicians lesson dashboard 👀🎶

in case you’re new here, Mrs. Tempo isn’t me lol. she’s a digital character inspired by my life as a music teacher…and basically a fun creative outlet for me to share the teaching ideas, behind-the-scenes moments, and little musical wins happening inside Elite Musicians 💜

the character may be digital, but this lesson structure is veryyy real: warm up, focus on a new skill, play music they actually enjoy, add a creative challenge, and make sure every child leaves with a win they can feel proud of 🥹

Before you pick their extracurricular activity this year… 👀
spend afternoon school with Mrs. Tempo 🎹☕️💜

{Ready for afterschool lessons!}

SCHOOL is almost back 📚 and if you’re already thinking “okayyy what extracurricular are we doing this year?”

For 1: Music works their little brains! 🧠

They’re LISTENING, REMEMBERING, RECORGNIZING patterns + coordinating their hands…sometimes ALL AT ONCE.

They think they’re just learning a song. 🥹

Number 2 : It teaches them to keep trying.

One of my favorite things is watching “I can’t do it” slowly turn into “WAIT…I DID IT!” 🥹

Music teaches patience, persistence + that it’s okay not to get something on the first try!

number 3 : It gives them a creative outlet. 🎨

Kids have big feelings + big imaginations. Music gives them somewhere to put all of it.. playing, singing, creating, moving and just being themselves.

Number 4: The confidence is BIG.

Every new song, new chord and little “I did it!” adds up.

And eventually, that confidence starts showing up outside of music too. 💜

Number 5: They’re learning more than music.

Listening. Taking turns. Following cues. Communicating. Performing in front of others.

So many little life skills are hiding inside a music lesson. 🎶

Number 6: They get to find THEIR thing.

Maybe it’s piano. Maybe singing. Maybe songwriting. Maybe they play the same song 87 times. 😂

Music gives them room to explore what they actually love.

Number 7: It’s something they can carry for life.

They don’t have to become professional musicians for music lessons to be worth it.

Maybe they play for fun. Maybe they sing at church. maybe they play at a random piano at the airport (terminal c in Newark Airport☺️) or maybe for their friends at that old piano in their school. Or JUST Maybe, one day they sit at a piano with their OWN child.🥲
