Good evening,
The last seven days of the school year are always incredibly busy, and we have a lot of exciting events and important schedule changes ahead. To start, please note that students and staff will be dismissed early at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16. There will be no after-school activities on this day, and this includes the CASPER program.
We are also looking forward to honoring our PK3, PK4, Kindergarten, and 5th-grade students during our upcoming end-of-year celebrations. Please check your child’s backpack for admission tickets that we are in the process of sending home. You will also find information regarding the expected attire for students during their moving-on ceremonies.
Adding to the excitement of the season, we will be joining in the community spirit surrounding the World Cup and celebrating our hometown basketball champions, the New York Knicks. To mark the occasion, Thursday, June 18, will be a schoolwide dress-down day. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite soccer jersey or Knicks apparel.
Please also note that schools will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
As we conclude the school year, June 23, June 24, and June 25 will all be early dismissal days. Additional reminders regarding dismissal procedures and end-of-year activities will be shared as needed.
Thank you,
Joseph Apruzzese

Mrs. Rodriguez’s Pre-K class and Mrs. Lancellotti’s Kindergarten class have been meeting up at our school garden while sharing and engaging in sensory exploration. At their last meet-up, students sat together while listening to the story of The Rainbow Fish. Both classes were then able to create a Rainbow Fish of their own to always remember the value of sharing our scales!

Inter Wakeman entered the final as the surprise team of the playoffs, and they looked ready to continue their magical run. Midway through the game, Captain Mohammad Chaudhary launched a rocket from the opposite side of the field. The shot deflected off a defender and into the net, giving Inter a 1–0 lead and sending their supporters into celebration.
For a long stretch, it appeared the underdogs might complete their improbable championship run. But then Central Crew’s star striker Magsen, the regular-season co–Golden Boot winner, took over the match, scoring two goals in a span of just a few minutes to flip the scoreboard and give Central Crew a 2–1 lead late in regulation.
Inter Wakeman refused to quit. With time running out, Chaudhary produced another moment of brilliance, blasting a long-range effort from nearly the full length of the field into the back of the net to tie the game 2–2 in the closing minutes and force extra time.
Regulation ended deadlocked, sending the championship into a five-minute golden-goal overtime. The back-and-forth battle finally ended when Magsen completed his hat trick, scoring the sudden-death winner to deliver the title to Central Crew FC.
The crowd erupted as players and supporters stormed the field in celebration of a championship-winning finish. Magsen’s three-goal masterpiece ultimately proved the difference, while Chaudhary’s two spectacular long-range goals nearly carried Inter Wakeman to one of the greatest upsets in playoff history.

Hopkins SC are the 4th Grade Recess Soccer Champions!
Before the championship match even began, Hopkins star Ola Abdelwahab was honored with her Golden Boot trophy after finishing the regular season as co-leader in goals scored. By the end of the afternoon, she had given everyone in attendance another reminder of why she earned the award.
Playing in front of a packed courtyard crowd, Abdelwahab delivered a championship performance for the ages, scoring all three goals to lead Hopkins SC to a convincing 3–0 victory over Owls United FC.
To their credit, Owls United came out determined and organized, frustrating the Hopkins attack for much of the early stages of the match. Their defense successfully disrupted Hopkins’ rhythm and kept the game scoreless. But eventually, the league’s most dangerous scorer found a way through. Ola sliced through three defenders before burying the opening goal, giving Hopkins a 1–0 lead and igniting the crowd.
A few minutes later, Abdelwahab struck again with a breathtaking long-range effort from nearly the entire length of the field. The powerful strike flew into the back of the net and doubled Hopkins’ advantage to 2–0.
With Owls United desperately searching for a way back into the match, Ola delivered the final blow. She completed her hat trick with another clinical finish, putting the game out of reach and securing the championship for Hopkins SC.
When the final whistle sounded, Hopkins players stormed the field in celebration as they completed a remarkable season with a championship trophy. Leading the way was Ola Abdelwahab, whose three-goal masterpiece will be remembered as one of the greatest performances in league championship history.
Final Score: Hopkins SC 3, Owls United FC 0

5th Grade Playoffs
Central Crew FC survived a tense semifinal battle and earned a spot in the 5th Grade Recess Soccer Championship Game, defeating St. Paul’s Stars FC in a penalty kick shootout after a scoreless draw in regulation.
St. Paul’s entered the match with a clear game plan: slow down Central Crew’s high-powered offense led by star scorer Magsen. The strategy worked brilliantly, as the Stars packed the defense and limited quality scoring chances throughout the contest.
Both teams generated opportunities and traded shots throughout regulation, but neither side could find the breakthrough goal. Strong defensive play and determined goalkeeping kept the scoreboard untouched, sending the semifinal into a penalty kick shootout.
The Stars managed to convert just one of their five attempts, with Angel Ortiz providing their lone successful penalty. Central Crew responded when Biswajith calmly buried his shot, followed by Samir Hashem, who delivered another clutch conversion under pressure.
Those two successful penalties proved to be enough, as Central Crew held firm the rest of the shootout to secure the victory and keep its championship hopes alive.
With the win, Central Crew FC advances to the Championship Game, where they will face the Cinderella team of the playoffs, Inter Wakeman FC, for the league title.
